Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny not satisfied with second place: EPL News
Arsenal goal-keeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998, has revealed that he will not be content for his side to finish second in the Barclays Premier League this season. His remarks come just after manager, Arsene Wenger’s admission that he will be satisfied if the Gunners
end the season behind Manchester United.
Arsenal’s hopes of ending their long-standings trophy drought were dealt with a crippling blow last Sunday after their 1-1 draw against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 at the Emirates Stadium. The result has left the Gunners six points adrift of leaders Manchester United, with
just 5 games of the campaign left to play. It’s been the story of the season for Arsenal, who were within touching distance of four major trophies just a few weeks ago. As they have done for so many years, the Gunners once again stumbled at the finish line.
After the defeat, manager Arsene Wenger played down talk of a disappointing season, saying that is not a disaster if Arsenal finish second in the Premier League. The Frenchman said, “We are second in the league so it's not a scandal. Some of the clubs behind
us have done nothing for 20 years, yet suddenly they get a lot of praise. I don't understand."
However, goal-keeper, Wojciech Szczesny, does not share his views. The young shot-stopper claimed that he will not settle for second best. He said that Arsenal owe it to their supporters to fight to the very end.
Szczesny said, “We are only thinking about winning the title, not who is behind us. We go into everything to finish first. We are Arsenal - we don't want to finish second and we definitely don't want to finish third. We just think about winning. Tottenham
is a very good game for us to come back from a big disappointment, and we owe it to the fans as well because they are obviously very disappointed about what happened. We owe them a result at White Hart Lane."
Arsenal are currently second in the Premier League standings with 63 points. Leaders Manchester United have 69 points.
