Arsenal’s defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bacary-Sagna-c7148, reveals support for the manager, Arsene Wenger
Arsenal’s right-back, Bacary Sagna, has revealed that all players are behind Gunners’ manager, Arsene Wenger, despite failing to win any silverware for the sixth consecutive season.
Arsene Wenger, who is considered as one of the best managers in the history of the Barclays Premier League, is under immense pressure after the Frenchman failed to deliver any trophy for the sixth successive season.
Wenger’s squad had a dreamy first half of the season and was expected to win silverware in the ongoing 2010-11 season as they were competing in four different competitions.
However, Arsenal miserably failed and could not even win a single competition.
Moreover, Gunners’ recent home defeat against Aston Villa has dropped them to fourth place in the League standings.
Arsenal has only won three games since late February and Wenger’s credibility is being questioned.
However, Sagna acknowledged that Arsenal players are “200%” behind Arsene Wenger, who has been in charge of the club for the past 15 years.
Sagna told the reporters, “Everyone is 200% behind him. I think he is the right guy. He made a lot for the team, for the players and for the club as well. So we just want to keep working hard and give the maximum”.
Moreover, Bacary Sagna also rubbished rumours linking Arsenal captain, Cesc Fabregas, to Barcelona and claimed that he is looking forward to play alongside the Spanish midfielder next season.
The 24-year-old Spanish midfield magician has been heavily linked with his boyhood club, Barcelona, and was also on the verge of joining the Catalans last season.
However, Arsene Wenger persuaded Fabregas to stay with Arsenal for a few more seasons.
Fabregas, who has not played the last two games, will miss Arsenal’s last game of the season, away against Fulham, due to a thigh injury.
Fabregas has been a crucial member of Arsenal’s squad and Sagna wishes to play under his current captain next season.
Sagna said, “Of course. He is under contract with the team. He is still our captain. Unfortunately, he was injured, but he will be back soon. We need him badly because he is a good player, he is very talented and everyone knows what he can bring to the team.
So I am looking forward to playing with him next year”.
Fabregas has scored nine goals and assisted 17 times in 35 appearances for Arsenal in the ongoing 2010-11 season.
