Arsenal’s goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998, apologizes for not winning any silverware this season
Arsenal’s goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny, has expressed regret and apologized to the Gunners’ fans for not delivering any silverware for the sixth consecutive season. The young goalkeeper claimed that his teammates are sorry to their supporters for once again
failing to win any trophy.
Szczesny admitted that he is fully aware of the frustration of the Emirates faithful but asserted that Arsenal will come stronger next year to win their fans back.
Szczesny told the reporters, “I totally understand the frustration of the fans, and we apologise for our lack of trophies this season. This is one of the biggest clubs in the world and we should be winning trophies every year”.
Arsenal was defeated by Aston Villa in the last home game of the season and the last whistle of the season at Emirates was greeted with boos by the Gunners’ fans, clearly unhappy with their team’s highly unimpressive performance in the second half of the
season.
Moreover, most of the Gunners’ supporter left the stadium before their players’ lap of appreciation.
Arsenal only won one of their last four league matches and is now on the brink of losing the third place in the Barclays Premier League standings to FA Cup winners, Manchester City.
Arsene Wenger’s men had a very promising start in the ongoing 2010-11 season and till late February the Gunners were the only team in Europe which was competing in four different competitions, UEFA Champions League, Barclays Premier League, FA Cup and Carling
Cup.
However, Arsenal never really recovered from their drastic Carling Cup final defeat to Birmingham City, when a late mix-up between Gunners’ keeper and defender cost them the silverware.
Since their Carling Cup defeat, Arsenal has only marked three wins in all competitions and was knocked out of rest of the competitions within a span of one month.
Wojciech Szczesny did admit that it has been a very poor end of the season by Arsenal’s standards but insisted that the Gunners’ fans should not lose faith in their players.
The young Polish goalkeeper asserted that Arsenal would come stronger next season and would aim to win the Barclays Premier League title.
Wojciech Szczesny added, “We will have much more desire next season as we know how close we were this season to win the Carling Cup and Premier League. That gives us more motivation and desire to go for it next year, and obviously we will be one year more
experienced compared to what we were this year”.
Arsenal will end their Barclays Premier League season with an away fixture against Everton on Sunday.
