Arsenal’s predicted starting eleven for the coming season
The English Premier League is about to commence for another season starting on the 14th of August. Most teams have already started preparations for the coming season along with deciding their starting eleven that they would field on the opening day of the season. Here is a look at the Arsenal starting eleven that experts believe would take the field for their first game against Liverpool on the 15th of November 2010.
In the goal If Arsenal don’t manage to find a suitable keeper in time it would be, Almunia. He has been rather poor over the past couple of seasons and Arsenal have been wanting to get rid of him for a while, however if they don’t manage to bring in a replacement then they won’t have any other options.
On defence would be the ever present, Sagna and Clichy. Sagna has been the most consistent player at Arsenal for a while now and seems to be doing a more than decent job. Clichy on the other hand has just made a comeback from an injury that he sustained last season and will be looking to show everyone why is Arsenal’s first choice left back.
In the centre of defence would be the pairing of Vermaelen and Koscienly. Both the players are rock solid and like to get stuck in a tackle of two. They would be playing together for the first time in the Premier League but have had a fantastic pre season.
In the midfield Arsenal will be looking to play three players, Song, Fabregas and Nasri. Song would be the holding player providing cover to the defence and in doing so he would be providing Nasri and Fabregas with the freedom to move in the midfield. Fabregas will be looking to silence all his critics and doubters this coming season by producing some phenomenal performances where as Nasri will be looking to up his game as well, considering it would decide his chances of being in the French national squad for the coming Euro and World Cup.
Up front Arsenal would be playing three players as well. Arshavin will be taking the reigns on the left wing for Arsenal again. The Russian has been fantastic down the wing for Arsenal and will be looking to continue the same form for the coming season or two at least. On the right wing Arsenal have a choice between, Walcott and Bendtner. Walcott would provide pace and trickery down the wing where as Bendtner would be able to provide the ability to hold the ball and construct plays.
The strikers role would be filled by Van Persie. Van Persie will be looking to make a comeback after a season that was infested by injuries and resulted in the Dutch striker barely getting any play time. He managed to make a comeback near the end of the season but wasn’t looking as sharp as before he got injured. He will be looking to perform at his best to provide competition to the other players who could play in his position. Those players being, Chamakh and Bendtner. Chamakh was just brought in this summer on a free transfer and has amazed every Arsenal fan with his displays in the pre season friendly matches. Whereas Bendtner was the player that filled in for Van Persie when he was injured and did a fantastic job at doing so, he even managed to score his first ever Champions League hat trick during that time, he has also said that he wants to be the best player in the world and can only do so by playing more.
These competitive battles amongst the squad might just result in the players performing even better than what is expected of them.
