Arsenal’s real problem
The Gunners have been misfiring for a long time now. A win has just become a distant memory for them. It has been six years and the Gunners have been unable to win anything. The Last trophy they won was the FA cup in 2005. Since then there has been nothing
of note that Arsenal has added to their trophy cabinet. The Champions League final along with the Carling Cup final are the only two events in which they have been notably involved after 2005.
There seems to be something seriously wrong at the club, which if not corrected soon, will leave the Gunners with nothing. Football is a cruel mistress and it does not spare any one, no matter how big a club. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 is a prime example of a big name team
losing its way; they have not been able to make Champions League this season and are not looking to make it to the next season either.
Will Arsenal be able to rectify its problems and move forward or will it just be bragging about easy on the eye, good looking football? This question can only be answered in the times to come, which is very much dependent on the fact that major changes are
made at the club.
Back to back defeats in major competitions have left them with no hope and the mood at the club must be somber. A Carling Cup final loss, being knocked out of Champions League by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38605 and then above all, losing out to their biggest rivals in an FA cup
encounter cannot be very uplifting.
Arsenal does have obvious problems which are the topic of discussion for every Gunners fan. Most important of them is their clear weakness in the defence line. Gunners do not have a strong back four, one which can take on Europe’s finest attacking lines
and keep them from scoring. There are hardly a few matches in which http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 has kept a clean sheet. Central defenders are their weakest link. They have a laundry list of issues with their defence including Vermalen, being out for the season due to injury,
Djourou having not played enough fooball, Scoklachi being aged and not good enough for the English game and above all not a quality goal keeper.
A need of a good, world class goal keeper is not new. This problem came to light after the departure of Lehman and since then the Gunners have not been able to replace him with someone. There have been games in which Gunners just lost because of the suicidal
errors made by the keeper. Most recent of them is the loss of the Carling Cup in which Sczcezny spilled the ball in the dying minutes of the game and the striker pounced on it to score the second for Birmingham and win the cup for them.
Since http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrick-c29255 Viera, Gunners have not been able to find a good holding mid fielder, again adding pressure on the back four and letting the ball slip through for chances to be made against them. The pursuit of scoring a perfect goal is another reason why
Arsenal do not avail most of the chances created. It can arguably be said, with the amount of chances they make, even if they are able to score on half of them, they can be title contenders for any competition. Arsene Wenger has to spend some cash if he has
to keep his and the clubs Glory intact.
