Arsenal seem to be having their ups and downs as the ongoing 2010-11 season comes to an end.
Losing to Bolton and then beating arguably the Premier League champions this term, Manchester United, the Gunners went down against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium as the score line read 3-1 to the home side.
Arsene Wenger started the game with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson’s men last weekend as he scored the winning
goal, the Frenchman had other reasons. Ramsey suffered his career threatening double leg fracture against the same opposition and the Arsenal manager wanted to give the youngster a chance to shrug off his past demons and get back to playing at his best.
However, as the game started, it appeared to be a case of ‘same old Arsenal’ as they dominated possession from the word go but struggled against set pieces.
On a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998 could
have done better as he tried to push the deflected shot wide with just one hand while the better option could have been to go with both gloves.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 scored late for Arsenal to peg back the deficit to just 1 goal in the 81st minute but the home side responded instantly to restore the two-goal cushion; effectively making the Arsenal goal a mere consolation as the game ended
3-1.
On a lacklustre performance, the Arsenal manager commented, “Yes, it was a disappointing performance. The competitive level of Stoke was higher than ours. I think we lost the game because Stoke defended much better than we did and with much more purpose.”
The loss complemented by Manchester United beating http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 at Old Trafford all but confirms an end to Arsenal’s title aspirations for this year.
