Arsenal's shock defeat: Why Wojciech Szczesny should be the number one goalkeeper - Part 2
But again, if Vito Mannone is selected ahead of Wojciech and more importantly, Lukasz Fabianski, then it would not be not be a surprise, because surely Mannone can be great for Arsenal in the future.
Moreover, Mannone has some of the precious Barclays English Premier League experience. His experience would surely play some part in his selection for being Arsenal’s number one goal keeper.
The Italian goal keeper has appeared six times for the Gunners in English Premier League. Mannone was signed from Italian side, Atalanta in 2005 by Arsene Wenger.
Szczesny has the talent and ambition, so why wait any longer?
Wojciech Szczesny has shown that he possesses extraordinary talent, and his remarkable performances for Brentford on loan were exceptional to say the least. The young Polish shot stopper was substituted in the closing minutes of
the last game of the season, so that Brentford's fans could thank him for his immense contribution, and that does tell you a story.
The 20-year old goalkeeper is a tall lad, and can cover the goal, which is an advantage for a keeper unlike some other goal keepers of Gunners, who cannot cover the goal.  Wojciech has very sharp reflexes, as can be observed when
he performed at Brentford. The talented goalkeeper is also significant in his decision making, and has shown a skill to command the defence, which no other goal keeper in Arsenal can do. It is this ability that gives him the edge over Mannone and why he must
be given his opportunity.
The only element that tallies against him is his inexperience, and that might cause him to wilt under massive pressure. But ‘The Professor’ will throw his weight behind the youngster even if he does commit an error, and can he be
any worse than Almunia and Fabianski?
Wojciech Sczesny's ambition will drive him to success
A few days back, Wojciech said that he was not being given enough opportunities to prove his value and also added that the boss might have forgotten him. The outburst could have been avoided by Wojciech, but it does show that this
lad will not be a happy man if he continues to warm the bench.
Wojciech’s desire to play every day will motivate him to get better, and it is time for him to be thrust onto the big stage. A lot of goalkeepers, for example Spanish and Real Madrid captain and goalkeeper Iker Casillas, got their
chance at a very young age, and they have done very well over the years.
David De Gea is a complete example of a young goalkeeper performing well for the Spanish side Atletico Madrid. Recently Sergio Asenjo, who is just 18 years old, replaced the very impressive David De Gea.  Without a doubt, there
are more burdens when you play for Arsenal, when compared to Atletico Madrid, but good goalkeepers can shine in any circumstances.
In 2006, Wojciech joined the Gunners youth set-up and progressed to the reserve team during 2008-09 season. Wojciech made his first team debut against West Bromwich Albion last season in a Carling Cup fixture. He also kept a clean sheet in his debut match.
Moreover, ‘The Professor’ revealed that he and his coaching staff have high expectations for Wojciech. Arsene Wenger said "We have identified Wojciech as a future great goalkeeper. I really believe in him that he will one day be Arsenal's No 1. He has all
the qualities you want from a goalkeeper”.
Wojciech undoubtedly has the talent and the much needed inspiration. The only question is his experience. A run of Carling Cup games to gain experience would be ideal, but with the present scenario for Arsenal, Wojciech Szczesny
seems to be the perfect choice right now for the Gunners.
