Arsene Wegner hints long term stay for Cesc Fabregas at Arsenal
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has suggested that Cesc Fabregas has a long future ahead of him at Arsenal.
In a midweek UEFA Champions League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk, Arsenal welcomed back their inspirational skipper to 1st
team action. The Spaniard converted from the penalty spot, during the 5-1 mauling of the Ukranian club, at The Emirates.
It has been seven years since Cesc moved to Arsenal from FC Barcelona’s youth academy, and the football world has witnessed him evolve from a skilful teenager to a world class midfielder. Such is the level of maturity shown by
Fabregas that he has earned the recognition of one of the best midfielders in Europe, at the young age of 23.
The 27 year old playmaker has grown at Arsenal as a player, under the mentorship of Arsene Wenger, but his dream for trophies has never been actualized. His desire to play for Barcelona, a club that he comes from and has a deep
connection to, is not a secret to the public. His move to the Catalan giants nearly went through before the start of the 2010/2011 season, but Barcelona and Arsenal were unable to settle for an agreeable price for the Spanish international and it looked like
the Arsenal captain would have to wait another season before making his much awaited move to Spain.
However, recent reports suggest that the midfielder may be staying at The Emirates for a long time. Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger believes that the Arsenal Captain still carries great love for the club, and wants to achieve great
success at Arsenal.
The Frenchman knows what the temptation is like for a player, to join a club that he supports and loves, as a child. Although, Wenger is wary of the emotional bond between Fabregas and his hometown club FC Barcelona, he is adamant
that the Spaniard has a long future at the London club.
“You can understand he has an attraction to the club where he grew up. But I’m confident we will keep him for a few more years.”
In recent years, Fabregas has been instrumental in Gunner’s bid to capture the English Premier League crown, which was last won by Arsenal in 2003/2004 season. There is no doubting the Spaniard’s ability to control the midfield
and win games for his team, single handedly.
With the likes of Jack Wilshere and other promising young players coming through the Arsenal ranks, an experienced veteran like Fabregas will provide the right blend of youth and experience to the Arsenal outfit. If Wenger manages
to keep his key players fit this season, Arsenal will be certainly a force to be reckoned with, for the title challenge.
