Arsene Wenger: Arsenal deserve credit for their performances this season
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that the Gunners deserve credit for their performances in the ongoing 2010-2011 campaign.
Having been on course for a quadruple just a few weeks ago, Arsenal now find themselves competing for just the Premier League title. It’s a bitterly disappointing state of affairs for a club which showed so much promise earlier on in the season.
Following a fantastic start to their campaign, the Gunners could conceivably have won the Champions League, Carling Cup, and the FA Cup crowns this season. Wenger’s men had made it into the final stages of each tournament, only to stumble at the finish line
once again. A string of defeats in the past few weeks have sent Arsenal crashing out of each competition.
It’s been the same story for almost seven years. The Gunners have failed to win a single title since their 2004 FA Cup triumph. Though they are still in the race for the Premier League crown, the momentum is against them, and many pundits predict Manchester
United will ultimately edge out Arsenal to lift the Premier League crown.
However, manager Arsene Wenger is determined to prove the naysayers wrong. The Gunners boss believes that his side can bounce back from their recent disappointments and still make this campaign a successful one.
Wenger claims that despite http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-Maseru-c38430’s recent poor form, the players deserve credit for their performances throughout the season.
"Nobody in England believed we could even fight for the top four. The fact we are in the position we are in, I think, deserves a lot of credit. We still have it (steel and mental strength). I don't question that." said the Arsenal manager.
Arsene Wenger has now set his sights on the Premier League crown. He claims that Arsenal have the ability to overcome their bad patch, saying that the Gunners will give it their all in the hopes of ending their trophy drought this season.
"It's been very difficult for the players, but they have never shown any sign of weakness mentally. Even on Saturday (in the FA Cup quarter final against Manchester United) they have put absolutely every effort in and I can only be proud of how much they
did fight."
He added, "The only thing I can say is that I'm ready to give absolutely everything to win the title."
Arsenal are currently in second place in the Premier League table, 3 points behind Manchester United, but with a game in hand.
