Arsenal manage, Arsene Wenger has hinted that there may be a chance that his Spanish goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Almunia-c23386, may be on his way out of the club during the winter transfer window.
The 33 year old Spaniard has not been in action since he played a big role in the 3-2 defeat against West Brom in September. His performance in that match alone was enough to keep him out, but, to make matters worse, he has been plagued by an elbow injury,
followed by an ankle problem.
While he has been away, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998 have been doing his job. Fabianski has been, in fact, very impressive and has made quite an impression on the club.
Almunia has a contract at Emirates that runs till the end of 2012, but a number of teams from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, like Malaga and Atletico Madrid, are believed to be inquiring about him. Arsene Wenger insisted that no decision has been made yet, but admitted that there
are some clubs interested and it may be up to Almunia in the end. While discussing the possibility of players going away from the Emirates, Wenger said that there is a possibility that Carlo Vela may be on his way out on loan before the January window closes.
Vela has not had much of a chance in the first team at Arsenal this season, which does not come as much of a surprise because there are a number of strikers at the club ahead of him on the list. The likes of Marouane Chamak, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873
and Niklas Bendtner have all been fighting hard for the striker spots up front.
Furthermore, Bolton are believed to be interested in signing Vela on loan till the end of the season. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463 was also sent to Reebok last season on a loan and benefitted immensely, and is now a first team regular for the gunners.
Wenger said, "We have a choice and that is basically the problem because he has the choice as well, and we need him to feel comfortable to go where he would like to go... Because players of his quality on loan, on a market that is very restricted money-wise,
you have an abundance of clubs who want him. There are about three or four in the Premier League."
Arsene Wenger went on to say that he would prefer that Vela stayed in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 he may be inclined to say yes.
Meanwhile, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 may not be the most popular man in the camp as he would be expecting some backlash from the boss after some comments made by his agent. Nasri's agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes, while talking to a British newspaper, said that they are in
talks with the club for a contract extension, and from then on they would decide which direction his future is heading. Wenger has repeatedly said that he has always believed in making players understand the importance of focusing on the game rather than the
money. He was recently quoted in the media saying that no player is bigger than the team, and he would always put the interest of the team ahead of any individual. The aftermath of those comments remains to be seen, and it is possible that Wenger may react
after the FA cup tie on the weekend.
