Arsene Wenger admits Arsenal can’t win the Premier League title this season
Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger has gone on to make a realistic assessment of his team, as he has gone on to admit that winning the Premier League this season, is looking all the more unlikely for the Gunners.
The Gunners took on Tottenham Hotspur last night and went on to lose to their arch rivals by two goals to one in the game. Due to this defeat, Arsenal have now lost four out of their opening seven games and this has put a massive dent in their title winning ambitions.
Following the game, the manager was asked about his opinions over the game and whether he thought Arsenal could still challenge for the Premier League crown.
In response to those questions, Wenger went on to claim: "I do not think like that. I think at the moment we have to set ourselves a realistic target and to get in touch with the teams who are fighting for the Champions League positions.”
"If you say today we will win the league it is not realistic.
"At the moment we are 12 points behind Manchester United and Manchester City. We have to fight to come back into a much better position, that's reality.”
It seems like reality has finally taken its toll on Wenger. The manager had been one of the most optimistic managers for quite some time, but watching his team of youngsters crumble in front of his eyes, time and time again, it appears like Wenger might finally be admitting defeat.
For a team like Arsenal, to be in the fifteenth spot in the league standings after seven games is just ridiculous. The Gunners are/were regarded as one of the best teams in Europe and so far, it seems like those reputations are now long gone.
Following this defeat, Wenger now has two weeks to rebuild the Gunners and try and get something out of his side, or the North London club could be in line for one of their worst ever finishes to the Premier League season.
At the same time, Wenger is going to be looking to add depth to his squad in the January transfer window, because the injuries that his key players have picked up this season, seem to be affecting the club quite dramatically.
The Gunners are forced to use midfielders in defence and so on, which by all means is something that a top club shouldn’t need to do.
It is now a wait to see just how Wenger and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 bounce back from this defeat, as they look to get their season back on track next term.
