Arsene Wenger admits Arsenal might be forced to sell prized midfielder Samir Nasri – EPL News
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has revealed that the negotiations with midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360, have broken down and the player might leave the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window.
Nasri’s contract with the Gunners is set to expire at the end of the next season and Wenger might cash in on him rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next season.
Talking to the reporters, Wenger said: “We have a financial disagreement which hasn't yet been settled. We are still in discussions but we haven't agreed a deal.”
A source close to the club revealed that the Gunners have offered the Frenchman a new five-year contract which earns him 90,000 Pounds per week salary, but the Nasri wants more than that.
The former Olympique Marseille star was the player of the 2010/11 season for the Gunners and had a fantastic campaign. The 23-year-old carried the goal scoring burden in the absence of club’s most prolific stars, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 and Cesc Fabregas. The midfielder
scored 15 goals and contributed with 4 assists in 46 appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side this season.
Nasri has been linked with a move to the English Premier League Champions, Manchester United, but Wenger revealed that the Frenchman will never be sold to the Red Devils.
“One thing's for sure, we're not selling him to United,” he added.
Nasri’s compatriot, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231, has offered the Frenchman to join him at Old Trafford if he wants to win any silverware. Nasri is still quiet about his future with the club and stated that he will wait until an agreement is reached.
Wenger is prepared for a major overhaul of the squad in the summer transfer window following a less than convincing campaign. The Gunners saw their trophy drought extend to six years and the fans have voiced their concern now.
Arsenal are in the market for a world-class defender, as the major reason for their downfall in the current season was their defensive woes.
