Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has admitted that he may have made a mistake in taking http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Oxlade-Chamberlain off for Andrei Arshavin, against Manchester United.
United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380.
Chamberlain set up the Dutchman with a delicate through ball, which the striker went on to blast across the face off the goal and into the far post.
However, despite the youngster playing so good, Wenger decided to take him off and bring http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andrei-Arshavin-c5771 on in the dying stages of the game.
In the end, United went on to exploit Arshavin’s flank and scored a second goal which saw them claim all three points from the game.
Wenger, who was given a fair amount of resistance by the Gunners fans in the stadium has finally admitted to his mistake and feels that he may have done things differently, should he be in the same situation once again.
When talking about the upset fans, Wenger is quoted to have said: “I can understand that the fans are upset and frustrated about the decision, especially when it doesn’t work. That means that you made the right decision at the start of the game.”
The manager then went on to explain his decision to take the player off, as he went on to add:
“He [Oxlade-Chamberlain] had started to fatigue and stretch his calf. He was sick during the week. You have an 18-year-old kid making his first Premier League start and a player who's captain of his country and they are querying the substitution? Let's be serious.”
“People pay for their tickets and are free to express their emotions. It doesn't mean they are right always.”
However, Wenger refuses to admit that the team lost because of the mistake that one player made, since he feels you win together and you lose together.
Nonetheless, irrelevant to the outcome of the game, what can be said assuredly, is the fact that Chamberlain is now set to have a flourishing career at the Emirates, should he continue to perform the same way that he did against United.
