Arsene Wenger admits to potential strengthening of Arsenal squad - Premier League news
Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger, has gone on to admit that he might just have to go ahead and bring in some positive reinforcements in the summer and help strengthen the Gunners squad in areas where changes are urgently needed.
At the moment, Arsenal are set to run out another season without a trophy. This means that the Gunners are now going to go six years in a row without winning any silverware. Wengers men are now sitting a massive nine points behind league leaders, Manchester
United. This margin is due to the fact that the team went on to lose to the Bolton Wanderers this past weekend and are now virtually out of the title race.
Prior to the game against Bolton, Arsenal were on a sixteen game unbeaten run, which consisted of six draws from their last nine matches. However that run has now accounted for nothing, considering the team is now sitting in the third spot on the league.
Wenger, who has a reputation for not spending big on players, when talking to the press was reported to have said,"We have the quality that is for sure. We have to strengthen the squad where it needs and make the right decision on that front. It [transfers]
is always in my mind every day"
The manager then went on to sum up the teams season and ended by stating, "The team have had an outstanding attitude and will not be rewarded because of small things, but small things cost you. It is frustrating because the team has produced the efforts.
We have to be realistic that it [the title] is very unlikely now, but we have to finish as well as we can."
Arsenal are now set to take on Manchester United this coming weekend, which means that should the team beat the Red Devils at Old Trafford, they would be able to end their season with some form of bragging rights. At the same time a win over United could
potentially catapult http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 into a position that could see the Blues lift the Premier League trophy at the end of the season.
Nonetheless, the more important matter at hand for Gunners fans is the fact that Wenger has after years and years of not wanting to spend at all in the transfer market, admitted to wanting to make some signings. Now this can be either good news or bad news,
depending on how Wenger carries himself out in the summer. Should the manager go his standard route and bring in young, in-experienced players, then it would be as good as not signing any players for the team. However if the manager shows the same kind of
tactfulness that he did in the Invincible season, then Arsenal might just finally end their trophy drought next year.
