Wenger has stated that his team should gain confidence from their performance despite not being able to gain all three points. He also believes that his side has proved their potential for the title contention.
He said, “Overall there is no way we should lose courage or belief in our team. It is the opposite. We should even come out with even more belief in our quality and be more resolute in the coming games because we have shown we have what it takes to be a
serious contender in this league.”
The Gunners boss, however, admitted that his side could have gained the lead in the initial stages of the match but failed to capitalize on some good chances. He went on to say that City’s tactics during the match might not be spectacular but they were able
to achieve what their boss, Mancini, required.
City’s Italian boss has been criticized for his defensive strategies quite a few times this season but he is adamant that his tactics will pay off. After his side was booed of the Emirates stadium by Arsenal fans he said, “It is not important for me. I prefer
booing at the end and to go home with one point than with three goals in our net. When you play here against Arsenal, it could be that Arsenal play better than you and you might defend, and this is football.”
City are currently third on the Premier League table with 42 points, two points ahead of Arsenal who have a game in hand.
