Arsene Wenger believes http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 will sign contract extension in the near future – Premier League Update
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is more than confident over the fact that Robin Van Persie is going to pen down a contract extension at the Emirates.
The Dutch international’s current contract with the club is set to run out in the summers of 2013 and the team need to tie the player down as soon as possible, or they could risk losing their captain to another team.
So far this season the striker has been in top form and has been scoring goals for fun. The striker has managed to find the back of the net on nine occasions in thirteen games so far and it seems like he is looking to go all the way this time around.
Wenger when talking about Van Persie and the possibility of putting pen to paper on a new contract is quoted to have said: "He has 18 months to go and I'm confident he'll sign a new deal. I'm always confident."
The striker is currently the only member of the Gunners squad who has lifted any silverware, as he was present at the club when they lifted the FA Cup in 2005. Since then, there has been a trophy drought at the Emirates, but the way things are shaping up,
that might all change this season.
Previously, Van Persie had gone on to drop massive hints about him moving away from the club, as he kept delaying his contract talks and stating that he would decide his future when the time was right.
The player then went on to sell his house in London which led to everyone assuming that his time at Arsenal was coming to an end.
Nonetheless, the player then went on to state that he would prove his loyalty to the club on the pitch and so far he has done the brilliantly. At the same time, he revealed that he sold his house, in order to purchase a newer one.
Arsene Wenger was also asked about his tactics and if he would continue to use the same approach for the coming games.
In response to that the manager went on to state: “I believe the values we defend are highly defendable.
"We want to do things with class and be very brave. Courage is a quality I admire, because it is needed in the modern world.”
"I can see a lot of fear and discontent among you - and I can understand that because we live in a world where we fight with people who have extremely high resources.”
