Arsene Wenger believes that Robin Van Persie is Arsenal’s answer to Barcelona’s Lionel Messi
Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger has gone on to shower praise on the Gunners captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296.
The Dutch striker was in fine form this past weekend, as he scored a brace over Bolton, which saw him bag his ninety ninth and hundredth goal for the team. Due to the forwards fine performance during the game, the Gunners went on to win the game by three
goals to nil and picked up their second win of the Premier league season.
What makes the forwards record all the more impressive, is the fact that he was previously used as an all out striker and was forced to play as a central striker by Arsene Wenger.
Back when the player was signed by the team, he was looked down upon by most experts, but Wenger knew that he had far more potential than anyone could see.
The manager now feels that the striker is as important to the team, as Messi is to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
Wenger told reporters: “I see similarities positional-wise with Messi. He comes deep, he likes to turn up front as well.
"Like Messi he doesn't play like a real centre forward but when you look at his movement around the box he is very intelligent and goes on diagonal runs.”
The manager then revelled that the player was never afraid of speaking his mind and that was a quality that has helped him a lot along the way.
“But he is intelligent, speaks his mind and you can speak to him as well. He takes advice and overall he has developed very well."
At the moment Van Persie is set to be nearing the end of his contract with Arsenal. As a result, many are questioning Wenger and his ability to hold onto players.
However, the manager has gone ahead and addressed these issues, as he believes there is nothing to worry about, when it comes to Van Persie, despite the situation being so fragile.
“If you are in Robin's place and you see Nasri going, Fabregas going, then you can be worried of course.”
The manager then went on to reveal that he had faith in his captain and went on to end by claiming that with him not being from Barcelona, there was hardly any chance of him leaving the team.
“But now he is on the way out? No, I don't think that really. Robin is not from Barcelona"
