Arsene Wenger believes time has come for his team to deliver

Arsene Wenger, the manager of Arsenal has said that his team does no longer have the excuse of being young and inexperienced and the time has come for them to deliver this season.
The last piece of silverware for Gunners came back in 2005 when they won the FA cup, following which number of players left the club including Thierry Henry and club captain Patrick Viera. Another reason for Arsenal’s lack of success
many believe is the reluctance of the manager to spend big sums of money to buy a player and has instead insisted on breeding youngsters.
There was a lot of criticism from all corners in last few years on Wenger for not bringing big names to the club. The loyal fans lately have also started to show some signs of frustration and have demanded to see results. The manager
says that he appreciates all the support he has received from the board and the fans during the rebuilding years of the club, but the time has come for his team to finally come up with the goods.
In comments quoted by L'Equipe, he said:"People are always saying that we haven't won anything for five years. This is true, but we have always remained at the highest level, even during difficult periods in the club's life.
"Arsenal built a new stadium and we have to pay for that, while also building a new team which had reached the end of a cycle.
"What would you say to Manchester City if they did not win any trophies this season after investing £200 million?
Wenger thinks that his team is probably one of the best in the world, but the fact that they play the English Premier League has made things more difficult for them. The French manager said that English Premier League is one of
the most competitive leagues in the world and had his team been playing in some other European league they would have been able to win the league.
"To me, the main reason why we have not won anything in five years is the fact we play in the best league in the world against clubs that have unlimited funds.
"Of course I want to win trophies. Our hopes for the season are always the same - we are fighting for the Premier League title and want to win the Champions League.
"The plan is to continue our improvement with the strength of our team and their youth.
Wenger also known as “The Professor” said that his team has abundance of talent and can play probably the most beautiful game in the country. He added that over last few years his players have grown in stature and have matured
to a level where now they can finally take the next step.
"My players don't have the excuse of inexperience any more. They are eager for titles. I believe they are capable, but they have to show it."
Arsenal is currently 2nd in the Premier League table and also made it to the 4th round of Carling cup overpowering city rivals Tottenham on Tuesday by 4 goals to 1 in extra time.
Wenger also talked about what future holds for him. The 61 year old had recently signed a contract extension at Arsenal which will keep him at the club till 2014. Many believe that may actually be when Wenger decides to part ways
with the gunners. Arsene Wenger arrived at Arsenal in 1996 and revolutionized the club.
Despite all that has been said about his policy of sticking with youth, Wenger insists that he will stick with the policy of grooming youngsters. He added that once he leaves Arsenal he will not mind if he works with a club that
is not amongst one of the biggest in Europe.
Wenger said: "I will coach for as long as I am healthy enough. I could finish coaching young players, but not necessarily at professional level.
