Arsene Wenger blames Champions League for Arsenal’s poor form in Premier League
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has gone on to blame the Champions League for his sides poor display in the Premier League, so far this season.
The North London club have had a very poor start to their domestic season and have so far managed to take just seven points from the six games that they have played so far. The team has drawn one game, won two and lost three games. Out of those three defeats,
one of the losses for Arsenal came at the hands of Manchester United, who thumped the Gunners by eight goals to two and proved that something was horribly wrong with the team.
Wenger seems to have finally realized what has been causing his team all these problems and now blames the Champions League for this poor form that his side have shown. The manager feels that due to Arsenal playing in the playoffs for the tournament, the
team was a little too fatigued and all of that fatigue that had built up, caused the team to implode.
"We've paid a heavy price in the Premier League for the quality of our performances in the Champions League," Wenger said
"The Udinese away game was terrible for us because it was 33 degrees and we had to give everything. We lost three or four players in that game and then we had to go to Man United. It was a bit too much.”
Wenger then continued as he talked about the game against Borussia Dortmund: "After we went to Dortmund, we went to Blackburn and so we've had the bad luck to play twice away after the Champions League, and it's difficult for everybody.
“Look on Saturday at what happened [when Arsenal beat Bolton Wanderers, having not played in the Champions League in midweek]."
Wenger may have a point with the way he is approaching the situation, but given that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 are considered to be one of the biggest teams in the world, everyone expects them to be performing at an optimal level.
If the team can’t really play two games a week, then isn’t it the manager’s fault that he can’t rotate the squad well enough to get his players ample rest, while picking up the best results. At the same time, Wenger blames the playoffs for the team suffering
such a humiliating start to their season. However, had he been able to get his team together at the end of the last Premier League Season, then they wouldn’t have needed to participate in the playoffs, in the first place.
