Arsene Wenger confident of a win against Chelsea
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has labelled his team’s match against Chelsea as a ‘must win’ clash. However, he also maintains that the Blues will pose a stiff challenge.
In an interview Wenger said, “Of course this is a must-win game. We have played Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 away, so our home form in these kinds of games will be decisive. We are confident over taking
Chelsea on at home. We face a big challenge. What we want is to produce an intelligent game full of dynamism. That is the only way we can win these big games."
Arsenal have not been able to perform well against any of the big teams this season. They have lost 14 of their last 18 games played against Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. Already this season, the Gunners have gone down against
both sides, at Stamford Bridge and recently at Old Trafford in their last league game.
Arsenal will be boosted by the news of captain Cesc Fabregas' probable return to the starting line up against Chelsea as the Spaniard has recovered well from a hamstring injury. However, the questionable defence line will still
be guarded by the young Sebastien Squillaci and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Laurent-Koscielny-c21742.
Chelsea’s recent form in the league has come under sever scrutiny; and Arsenal will be hoping to cut down Blues’ chances of winning the league title. Chelsea have failed to register a win in the English Premier League for the past
five games and have won only 1 of their previous 7 matches. However, after a 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in the last league game, Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that his side has regained its lost form.
Wenger has also insisted that their archrival’s current form does not mean his side will have a trouble free time at home. He said, “We know that on Monday we will play against a top team and we do not expect any weakness on their
side. We want to put a top-level performance in at the Emirates and show we are masters at home."
The match between the title contenders will be played on Monday, 27th of December.
