Arsene Wenger confirms that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thomas-Vermaelen-c35002 is going to be back in two weeks
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has finally come forth and dropped some good news onto the loyal Gunners fans, as the manager has confirmed that Thomas Vermaelen is nearing a return to the first team.
The Belgian international has been out for a couple of months this term, after the player went under the knife. However, with the problems that Arsenal have been having at the back this season, many believe that the defender is the answer to the team’s problems.
The Gunners have been having a horror run with their back line, with the defenders failing to communicate on the pitch and this in turn has cost the team a number of wins, as they concede cheap goals more often than they would like to.
When talking about Vermaelen and his return to the team, Wenger is quoted to have said: “He's two weeks away. He is running out on the pitches.”
The manager then went on to place an estimation on the player’s return as he revealed that two to three weeks would be an honest estimate over the players return.
"He looks alright but we have to respect the progression, you still have to give him two to three weeks to be competitive again."
So far this term, almost every single one of the Gunners first choice defenders have picked up injuries. At one point in the season, the Gunners were using http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-Song-c4804 as their centre back and that in itself says a lot about the team.
Nonetheless, with Vermaelen now nearing his return, the team is going to be able to breathe a sigh of relief as the defender is finally going to add that stability at the back, that has been missing for far too long now.
At the moment the defender is believed to be eyeing a return to the Gunners squad in their game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and should he be back in time for the game, Arsenal would be more confident of securing all three points from the game.
