Arsene Wenger could rest http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Shearers record.
Robin Van Persie has gone on to score thirty four league goals this season and is two goals away from matching Alan Shearers record of thirty six goals, which he set in 1995.
Arsenal are set to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers and QPR this week, which would give the striker the opportunity to go on and score the three goals which help him become the all time leading goal scorer for a calendar year in the Premier League.
Nonetheless, Arsene Wenger has gone on to raise concerns, as he feels the striker is playing far too many games and that it is high time for the striker to be given some time off. The manager made these comments, as he doesn’t wish to get the player injured,
since he wants him to complete the season, without picking up an injury.
Wenger, when talking about the striker and the possibility of him being rested is quoted to have said: ‘‘I don’t want to stop him [breaking the record]. I am very happy if he does it, but hopefully he can combine the record with staying fit. You get his
vibes, the medical vibes and you know the history with him. Then you make a decision.”

‘‘It will be a big demand for him, but I don’t know yet, we will assess the situation after every game.

‘‘I did it [rested him] in the Champions League because I thought we had enough security there and we could take a gamble. Also he was very tired after the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 game.”
It is easy to see where Wenger is coming from. Given how the striker has been injured almost every season, the manager would not want the same fate to repeat itself this time around.
The team can’t afford to see the striker spend a majority of the season on the treatment table and perhaps Wenger is thinking about the greater good, as opposed to seeing one player break one record.
