Arsene Wenger frustrated but willing to make changes at Emirates – Premier League update
Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, was left to reflect on another barren season for his Gunners, that was capped off by yet another disappointing performance which saw Arsenal draw their final game of the season 2-2 against Fulham. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steve-Sidwell-c34181 gave Fulham the
lead after 26 minutes, but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 got Gunners level with his ninth in as many away games, which is a record in the premier league.
Bobby http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 got Arsenal level late in the game to earn a hard fought point. The draw meant that Arsenal finished the season in fourth place as Manchester City moved up to third.
Arsenal will have to play a pre qualifying two legged match before next season’s Champions League kicks off.
Arsenal ended a season which promised a lot midway through the campaign, but in the final 19 games of the season they managed to get just two wins. The downfall of the Gunners started when they lost the final of the Carling Cup against Birmingham at Wembley.
Arsenal fans are quickly losing their patience over Wenger’s policy of not spending money and sticking to youngsters. The travelling fans at Craven Cottage sent off Wenger with chants of "Spend some money”.
After the game, Wenger admitted that it was not the best performance from his team and a disappointing end to a season which had promised a lot. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 manager said, "It was an average game and in the end we felt the disappointment with fourth place
because three weeks ago we were in the position to win the league. Of course we didn't lose our top three place today, we lost it last week and that is why in the end we have to go through a qualifier."
Arsene Wenger is expected to finally open the check book and spend some money in the summer transfer window. Gunners have plenty of young talented players, but what they lack if someone with experience who can guide them through in crunch situations.
Arsene Wenger went on to say that there were number of disappointments for the team throughout the season which had a big impact on the morale of his players. He added that the team is understandably disappointed and dejected but there is no need to go overboard
and think that the squad is not good enough.
Wenger admitted that some changes need to be made, and spending money does not ensure that all those problems will be fixed but he will try to address that during the summer. He explained, "We have to rectify some things in our squad and will try to do it
but it's not easy, even with money, but we will try to do it."
Arsenal has not won any silverware in the last six seasons, and the summer transfer window may be the most important one of Wenger’s career as he would have to make some big calls. Next season may be the decisive one for him as another barren campaign may
spell the end for him at the Emirates.
