Arsene Wenger hits back at critics after Arsenal’s win over Marseille – Champions League Update
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has gone on to hit back at the numerous critics who deemed Arsenal incapable of beating Marseille and constantly claimed the Gunners back line to be nothing short of useless.
In http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Ramsey-c3065 found the back of the net in the 92nd minute and in doing so scored the only goal of the game.
When talking about the game, the Gunners boss is quoted to have said: "For qualification it was a very important goal, for the confidence as well. The game was a bit scrappy and we needed to be patient but after the first half we controlled the game"
"Marseille defended in a very disciplined way and it was difficult to create chances but you could see in the last 15 minutes we started to create opportunities and it was a question of intelligence, discipline and patience.
"They showed patience [and] discipline. Everyone questioned how we would cope defensively tonight but I think overall we did well."
The manager then went on to admit that the spirit and togetherness that the team was showing was rather remarkable. At the same time, the manager is now hoping for the team to produce the same level of performance against their Premier League opponents,
as the team continues to try and march towards the top of the table.
Wenger then went on to applaud the performances of Carl Jenkinson, who put in a brilliant shift before being taken off due to an injury that he picked up.
Wenger admitted that Jenkinson was a brilliant crosser and the maturity that he was showing was well beyond his years. However, the manager is still not sure over the extent of the defenders injury and it is going to be a wait for another couple of days
till we find out just how badly the player is injured.
At the moment Arsenal are sitting on top of their group in the Champions League and have bagged four points against their two toughest opponents in the group. All in all it seems like the Gunners are set to progress to the knock out stages of the tournament
for the twelfth season on the trot.
It is now going to be interesting to see just how Wenger and his players manage to take this form and use it to build on their Premier League form over the coming weeks.
