Arsene Wenger hopes the critics have learnt their lesson
Arsene Wenger strongly feels that his young Arsenal side have gone ahead and proven to everyone that they are no longer the pushovers they were once rumoured to be. Arsenal went on to destroy http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 on Monday night, in a game that had all the odds stacked
up against the Gunners. However, Arsenal managed to successfully overcome those odds and destroyed Chelsea, in a game that displayed the team’s maturity and strengths to their true potential.
As a result of the victory last night, Arsenal managed to successfully beat Chelsea for the first time since November 2008 and this is despite the fact, that they went on to lose to Manchester United in their last encounter. However, Arsenal managed to end
their run of poor form, against their closest title challengers. They managed to put so much pressure on Chelsea that the team who claimed to be looking to crumble the Arsenal youngsters, went on to fall victim to their incisive footballing abilities instead.
Arsenal got the lead on the night, right near the stroke of half time, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873, which gave Arsenal the three goal cushion
in the game.
Chelsea then went on to reduce the deficit, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Branislav-Ivanovic-c7994 getting the only goal on the night for the Blues. As a result of the defeat, Chelsea have now managed to secure only six points from their last eight games, which happens to be their worst
run of form since 1998. As a result of the win, Arsenal are now back in second place and are now looking to push up on the league leaders, who happen to be Manchester United. United are currently only two points ahead of Arsenal and are bound to feel the pressure
that Arsenal are now putting on the rest of the league. Following the victory, an ecstatic Arsene Wenger is reported to have said,
"It was a double impact. Mathematically, it keeps us in touch with the leaders of the league, and psychologically, it was important because we were questioned about our capability of winning big games. I am happy with the desire in the team. We kept good
discipline in the team for 90 minutes and put in a real team performance. It can be a very pivotal moment, but we have to respond away at Wigan on Wednesday night in a game where we want to turn up and take points.”
As a result of the victory against Chelsea, almost every football critic and expert has gone ahead and applauded Arsenal. They have also gone ahead and stated that Arsenal’s young boys have finally turned into mature players. However, at the same time they
also happen to have the gift of youth on their side.
If Arsenal can go on to keep this same form up, for the remainder of the season, it is safe to say they possess a very strong threat at winning the Premier League title at the end of the season. At the current moment, Arsenal have a relatively easy schedule
leading up to February and if the team can avoid their regular slip-ups then they will probably be looking to be on top of the Premier League table at the end of January. That is, if the likes of United manage to slip-up along the way.
