Arsene Wenger praises Arsenal youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Premier League Update
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The player was signed by Arsenal from Southampton, in the summers and has since then been turning a lot of heads.
The youngster went on to make his first appearance for the team against Manchester United and despite Arsenal losing that game by a landslide, he went on to gain the recognition of a number of critics. Since then, he has gone on to make a Champions League
appearance for the team, during which he scored his first ever European goal.
The player went on to face Manchester City in the Carling Cup and was voted as one of the best player on the pitch in the game. In fact, Chamberlain would have been awarded the man of the match award, had he gone on to score a goal in the game.
When talking about Chamberlain, Arsene Wenger is quoted to have said:
“Chamberlain looked the whole night like he could deliver something special”
“He has shown already he has moved forward considering where he was on the last two months. He has improved a lot already.
“The experience shows it is good sometimes to be positive, and as well patient.”
The manager then went on to admit that he had been very patient with the player, but feels that it is about time to throw him in the middle of things, in order for him to develop into the best possible player that he can become.
“I was very patient with him until now. I feel it is important sometimes to hold them back a little and keep them on the training ground. He has shown he has improved a lot.
“You pushed him easily off the ball two months ago, but now you could see his resistance in the challenges, his strengths in the duels is there. That is very important.”
Chamberlain had previously been compared to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 on nearly every occasion, mainly due to the fact that they both joined Arsenal from Southampton and play on the wings.
However, Wenger has already revealed that he wishes to utilize Chamberlain as a much more central player down the road and once that does happen, he would finally be looked at as an individual and not as the next Theo Walcott.
However, that being said, Chamberlain has already been turning heads with his performances and it is now only a matter of time before he goes on and makes a name for himself in the Gunners starting eleven, or bench on a regular basis.
