The French tactician has defended his philosophy which he has used to earn trust at Arsenal after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 refused to sign a contract extension with the Gunners due to their lack of success in the recent years...
After parting ways with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 along with other star players over the last half a decade, Arsene Wenger has come under severe criticism for letting Arsenal down when it comes to success in the English Premier League and club football in general.
Wenger has been a stickler to his policy of developing youth and playing aesthetically pleasing football which has won over some new fans to the Gunners’ side but it has also prevented them from holding onto their star players due to the lack of their silverware at the Emirates stadium. Wenger has won the Premier League trophy in the past but now things have changed as Manchester City, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 are barely catching up.
Wenger’s regime at Arsenal was dealt yet another blow due to Van Persie’s latest revelation that he won’t be signing a new contract at Arsenal which means that the spearhead of Arsenal’s attack might be leaving the club in the near future. Van Persie was central to Arsenal’s charge towards a UEFA Champions League qualification place and if he leaves they will find it hard to replace him.
Arsene Wenger said, "I totally agree with Cruyff, and I won't change. The only sad thing is that sometimes your work is destroyed by others. You want to see a player in his prime doing it for your club. But it does not work like that all the time.”
He added, "I am a victim of that. I lost Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy and Cesc Fabregas at an age when they should have been playing their best football for Arsenal. But I never left the club when I could have.”
Wenger will hope that he can convince Van Persie to stay at Arsenal but things might not be as easy as that considering the lack of success that has been seen at the Emirates stadium over the last few years.
