Arsene Wenger refuses to rethink his football philosophy – English Premier League news
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wegner, admitted that the 2010/11 Barclays Premier League campaign has been disappointing for the Gunners, but he believes that the lack of silverware should not trigger a complete overhaul in Arsenal’s football philosophy.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 finished the recently concluded Barclays Premier League campaign in fourth place. The club’s slide down the standings during the closing stages of the season has been frustrating for Gunners fans, who have started to voice their concerns about the
way things are being run at the Emirates Stadium.
The London club’s dismal run in the Premier League was not the only reason to worry. Arsenal were unable to build on their strong positions in the FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, and Carling Cup tournaments, ultimately culminating in their exit from all three
cup competitions in the space of two weeks. It was a case of Déjà vu for Gunners supporters, who saw their team blunder through a sixth successive season in which they failed to win any sort of silverware.
Arsenal fans are calling for blood, and Arsene Wenger does not blame them. The Frenchman understands the frustration around Emirates Stadium at the moment, but he has pleaded for patience. Wenger is confident that his football philosophy will start to produce
results soon.
Speaking on the matter, the Arsenal boss said, “The criticism has been sharper this year because of the impatience of people. People are used to us being in the Champions League so we have to give them more, but we're not capable of doing that. For our fans
the frustration was that we were so close to convincing everybody of how football can be great, but in the end not being able to deliver.”
He added, “But that doesn't mean we have to change our philosophy or the way the club is run. We get it 95 per cent right, but we must gain that 5% because it's so frustrating to flirt with success like we have done. The fans are unhappy that we didn't win
the Premier League, but we are close.”
Arsenal finished the 2010/1a1 Barclays Premier League campaign in fourth place, three points behind third placed Manchester City.
