Arsene Wenger says Arsenal can beat Manchester United
Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger believes his team has gathered good momentum and the 5-0 win over Leyton Orient in the FA Cup has boosted his team’s confidence.
Wenger’s boys will face Manchester United in the FA Cup quarterfinal and the Frenchman believes his young team can take on the opposition easily. Both teams are fighting hard to win the Barclays English Premier League (EPL) and now will also come face to
face in the FA Cup. Wenger is confident of a win over the EPL leaders.
Talking to a British newspaper, Wenger said his team was very much in the race for the title. He added that all Arsenal needed to do is win their games, and the title will be theirs.
The Arsenal boss reiterated that the EPL is the most important target for his team, and they will not hold anything back as far as the league is concerned.
Wenger said, “We play Man United at home and we will see where we stand then. We dropped points at the start but since November, we are consistent at home. That will be vital. consistency, we have a very good chance.”
Arsene Wenger had been dejected after losing the Carling Cup final to Birmingham City over the weekend. He said after the game that the loss was devastating, but his team needed to get back on the horse quickly and start focusing on the matches to come.
On the other hand, arsenal’s big 5-0 win was a huge morale boost to the team and Wenger believed that was just what Arsenal needed to get their focus back on things that mattered.
Arsene Wenger has often played second string side in cup competitions, and event his season in the FA Cup matches most of his first team players were missing. However, Wenger reassured that he has made the FA Cup a priority and will make sure he puts out
his best team against Manchester United in the quarterfinal.
He added: "We will play the team that has the best possible chance to qualify - for sure."
Manchester United and Arsenal have long battled over the Premier League crown, before the emergence of Chelsea as a contender. It was always a tug of war between the Gunners and the Red Devils since the inception of the Premier League 20 years ago. Manchester
