Arsenal’s manager, Jack Wilshere has confirmed that Jack Wilshere has suffered a setback on his road to recovery, but is still hopeful the midfielder will be available to play this season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s pre season game against the New York Red Bulls. Despite it initially being anticipated the midfielder would be back in a couple of weeks, he was eventually ruled out for a couple of months.
Just when it seemed like his return to the first team was almost here, Wilshere went on to suffer another setback on his injury and is now going to be out for an indefinite amount of time.
After confirming that the midfielder would be missing in action for the next few games, the manager refused to rule out the possibility of him returning before the end of the season.
When talking about Wilshere, Arsene Wenger is quoted to have said: "Who would want to do that [write off his season]? I don't want to and he doesn't want to. But there is no reason either, if he is fit. If we have good news and he can move on, why should we do it?
"I am really disappointed for him as well, because he is a football animal. I am so sad that, at that age, you have to be out for such a long time with not any obvious reason.
"If you had have told me that Jack would not have played one game by February I would have said, 'That's impossible.'"
With the news that Wilshere might be out for the whole season, many experts believe that Wenger should try pursuing a signing in the January transfer window, in order to make up for the player’s absence.
Should the manager fail to do so, it would be very hard to see the Gunners contest for a spot in the top four at the end of the season.
It is now a wait to see just what the manager decides to do with his squad, after finding out about Jack Wilshere’s situation.
