Arsene Wenger thinks lucky United can go season unbeaten
Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger has gone on to state that he believes that despite Manchester United being unusually lucky so far this season, they can go on and finish the season without a single loss.
The last team to actually achieve that feat was Wenger’s Gunners in the 2003-2004 season. However, that record seemed to be one that would be impossible to topple over, but as it stands, United have a pretty good chance of matching the best ever season in
Arsenal’s history.
However, Wenger went on to insist that despite the Red Devils boasting a rather impressive season so far, they had good fortune favouring them all along.
Wenger is reported to have said, "Do you ask me can they still do it?" Certainly, because they have not been beaten yet."
"Have they been a bit lucky until now? Certainly, but we'll see. I don't know more than you. You really think about winning the championship but with five games to go, you think about, 'Oh, we can add something to that.' That's what happened with us. But
you don't think about that with 16 games to go."
The manager then went onto highlight the narrow escape that the team made against West Brom.
"At West Brom, for example (United were lucky not to lose). But overall, I'm more concerned by our own performance. What is important is to beat Man United and we will only have the chance, with the run that they are on, if we do exceptionally well until
the end of the season."
The manager then went on to state that his primary focus was on the task at hand that he had with his team. However, he then added that if United were to remain unbeaten till the last month, then they would go on to match the ‘Invincibles’ season without
a doubt.
"So I focus more on that, knowing that they have a difficult schedule as well. If they have five games to go and they are still unbeaten, come back to me and I'll say 'Now, they can do it.”
Wenger seems to be having a rather valid case when thought about. This is because when Manchester United took on the Gunners this season, both teams looked to be evenly locked out. However, United managed to sneak in a rather bizarre goal to win by the slimmest
of margins; a goal to nil.
In the game, Luis http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Park-Ji-Sung-c29147. The ball then inexplicably looped over the Arsenal keeper and found its way into
the back of the net. It was a goal that most United fans would say was intentional, but the fact of the matter is that it had luck written all over it.
At the moment, it seems like the only team that could potentially put an end to United’s run are the Gunners themselves. The next time the two teams will meet in the league is going to be on the 30th of April. If things go according to Wenger's
plans, then a defeat for United could be on the cards, however the way things are going at the moment, the chances of that happening seem to be slim.
