Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger is reportedly willing to bench http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Oxlade-Chamberlain instead.
This past weekend, Walcott and Chamberlain started for the Gunners against United and at the end of the game, the player who went on to win fans and critics over was eighteen year old Oxlade-Chamberlain.
During the game, it was easy to see just how the youngster is the player that everyone thought Walcott could someday be.
Chamberlain, following his move to Arsenal from Southampton (just like Walcott), went on to impress with the performances for the reserves and in the rare matches that he was given with the first team.
The forward played one European game for the Gunners as well and went on to score the match winner in that game.
Against United, Chamberlain was quite simple the most creative player on the pitch for the Gunners. His pace, control and vision seemed to be something that Arsenal had not seen for many years.
The way that he dictated play every time he got the ball and managed to dart forward down the flank, made it seem like he was a seasoned Gunner and not Walcott.
While Chamberlain was showing just how good he really is, Walcott was having yet another terrible game.
It now seems like Arsene Wenger has had just about enough with Walcott and is going to be willing to bench the player once http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755 returns from the African cup of Nations.
Wenger is contemplating sticking to his 4-3-3, with Chamberlain on the left, Gervinho on the right and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 in the middle.
The Gunners boss feels that with Walcott being dropped to the bench, he would look to try and improve his performances, in order to reclaim a spot in the team’s starting eleven.
However, should that not happen, then it might be the start to Walcott’s demise at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429. The winger hasn’t really contributed anything special to the team so far and his pace seems to damage the team’s counter attacks, as opposed to helping them out.
All in all, it is now time for Walcott to step his game up and prove his worth, or he could be heading down and possibly out of Arsenal.
