Arsene Wenger wants the trust of Arsenal supporters – English Premier League news
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has urged the supporters to trust their team as the Gunners look to bounce back from a disappointing 2010/11 campaign. The Frenchman believes that his young squad has the ability to break their long-standing trophy-drought. He wants the fans to share the same belief.
The recently concluded Barclays Premier League marked the sixth successive season in which the Gunners have failed to win any sort of silverware. It is a shocking position for a club with such a pedigree. After six years of false starts, Arsenal fans are starting to question whether the current crop of players are good enough to take the club back to its glory days.
Perhaps the biggest worry for the fans is the team’s lack of experience. Arsene Wenger is renowned for taking raw, young talent, and molding them into world class players over the course of a few years. While that approach is not currently helping http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 in their quest for trophies, Wenger believes that the payoff is coming sooner rather than later.
The Frenchman is aware of the disappointment around Emirates Stadium following yet another barren season, and he is determined to turn things around for the club in the next campaign.
Speaking after the end of the 2010/11 Barclays Premier League season, Wenger said, “They (supporters) need to trust us because the club is in a strong position and we have a strong basis [of the team]. I share their disappointment and it is completely understandably because a few weeks ago we were in a position to win the league and in the end we play for qualifying in the Champions League.”
He added, “The team has given a lot this year, has a strong basis and we want to improve that. We have to take it on the chin and come back stronger next season."
Arsenal have finished in fourth place in this season’s Premier League with a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Total-c40747 of 68 points. Their position has not secured them an automatic place in the next Champions League, and the Gunners will now have to qualify for the group stages of the competition.
