Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal become complacent towards end of ongoing 2010-11 season
With Champions League football confirmed for another season, Arsenal have shown signs of complacency towards the end of the ongoing 2010-11 season.
The Gunners hosted Aston Villa recently at the Emirates Stadium. After conceding two early goals, the Gunners gave up fight and lost the match by 2-1. It was a performance unworthy of a top tier team and it really shows the attitude of the team throughout
the campaign.
Two quick goals were scored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darren-Bent-c10358, just ten minutes into the match. It was some poor defending on part of Arsenal defenders, who remained lacklustre throughout the season. After this, Arsenal were once again on the receiving end of another couple
of poor referee decisions. First http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 pulled a goal back for the Gunners, but it was already too late. Arsenal lost their
last home match of the season, conceding their third loss in the last four games.
The real problem is that the team which was once alive in all four competitions that they entered into is being easily beaten by some weaker sides in the Premier League. At one point, Manchester United faced a threat from Arsenal who managed to keep them
within their reach. However, the situation changed drastically and Arsenal are now playing for the fourth place. This means that they are on the brink of losing the automatic qualification to the Champions League and will have to enter the playoffs.
Manchester City lifted the FA Cup trophy on the weekend and have a rare chance to surpass Arsenal for the third position in the table. This would be a great result for City coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 who had initially planned for a fourth place. This will also
give his side a big boost for the next season, where the confidence would be important in determining the outcome of all the major competitions where the Citizens would be participating.
The problems for Arsenal are really obvious and unfortunately nothing has changed for quite some time. Arsenal need a more reliable goalkeeper and they do require a couple of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Big-Players-c38635 in their defence. However, manager Arsene Wenger has ignored these
problems so far and he will keep on ignoring them for no apparent reasons.
Apart from this, Arsenal have not been good with their attacking game. Reliability is the major problem for most of the Arsenal players and no one has shown consistency in terms of goal scoring.
Cesc Fabregas still is the most important player in the midfield, while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463 have shown some talent as well. However, this has not been helpful as they suffered as a team. Their passing has become less accurate and there are more
instances of losing concentration. Arsenal failed to make any impact this season only because their players lacked team spirit and were mostly under confident.
At this point, Arsenal seem to be the side that might lose its position in the top four of the English Premier League next season. In the absence of Champions League football, Tottenham Hotspur would come stronger in the next season. In addition, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809
are doing well too, who are once again the favourites for the next season.
As all the other teams started improving towards the end of this season, Arsenal are the only side in top six which has shown a downhill performance. This means that a lot of changes would have to be made by Arsene Wenger who has so far been reluctant to
do anything about the weaknesses.
