Anzhi Makhachkala defender has urged his former club to win the upcoming Russian Premier League tie against Zenit St. Petersburg at Makhachkala stadium
Anzhi Makhachkala will host Zenit St. Petersburg at Makhachkala stadium in the upcoming round of Russian Premier League action.
Given the fact that the St. Petersburg club has picked up a draw and a win against the Dagestani club during the ongoing league campaign, Zenit are the favourites to record another win against the ambitious Russian outfit at their
home.
Arseniy Logashov has told Anzhi that they need to forget about the past results, and has tipped them to enter the field with full confidence. Logashov believes that the Meshki will be hard to defeat. However, he has urged Anzhi
to turn the tables against the table-toppers this time around.
The Russian defender admitted that Anzhi have all the attributes to win a trophy in the near future, and told them that the fans expect them to seal UEFA Champions League qualification for the next seaosn.
Anzhi are very much in the mix to claim Champions league qualification along with Dynamo Moscow and Spartak Moscow, should the Dagestani side win the last match of the ongoing campaign.
As things stand, the Makhachkala-based sit in the 5th spot and trail the second-spot by just three points.
“The Dagestani club has already qualified to play in the UEFA Europa League next season but I would like to see them in the champion’s league. There is a little hope that they will succeed in their quest to play in the European
tournament. Anzhi need to win against Zenit irrespective of the past.”
“The St. Petersburg club has won the Russian championship. So, I think they will not play up to their potential. Zenit are a decent side, which included some national team players. I think Anzhi will find it extremely difficult
to defeat Zenit in front of their fans.” The former FC Sportakademklub Moscow player was quoted as saying.
Logashov went on to admit that people are expecting too much from Anzhi after the arrival of new head coach, Guus Hiddink, during winter.
