The Russian winger has conceded that he was unlikely to get any first team football at Arsenal as he had fallen out of favour at the Emirates stadium with Arsene Wenger as well as the fans and that is why he opted to secure
a loan move to Zenit St. Petersburg....
Arshavin has come out and laid to rest the rumours regarding his relationship with Arsene Wenger and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 F.C in his latest interview as he admitted that he had fallen out of favour at Arsenal with the French manager and the
fans at the club as well.
Arshavin’s watershed moment came in Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United earlier on in the season when he was greeted by jeers at the Emirates Stadium as he was substituted in place of Oxlade Chamberlin. The veteran Russian
has found it hard to win back the fans due to his laid back attitude as the fans have come out and criticized Arshavin for his lack of form and the lack of effort as well.
Arsene Wenger gave the Russian a route out of the club in the January transfer window and the winger took his option and secured a loan move away to his former club, Zenit St. Petersburg. Arshavin has slowly deteriorated in form
for Arsenal since last season whilst Wenger has tried to defend his player; the fans have turned on him which means that it was hard for him to gain any first team action at the London club.
Arshavin said in his latest interview, “When they made an official offer I thought hard about it and realised it would be the right move. Coming back to my home team and city would be beneficial to both sides. I haven’t been playing
regularly for the Gunners lately and it didn’t seem like things would change soon, so the offer came at the right time and place.”
He added, “I think that at the moment a loan is more important to me than to the clubs. I hope to play more football in St. Petersburg. You have to earn your right for a first-team spot. Hopefully I can prove my worth to our head
coach.”
