Question:

Art Camp Help.?

So this summer me and my friend are running a beach themed art camp. We basically have the art part planned out, but we need help with activities for that age group (4-8, I know bad combination)

4 year old can't just do art the whole time, so we need activities that are somewhat beach themed that everyone will love. Also if you know any songs (and I'm not talking about preschool songs, I mean actual songs) we could play, please tell me. We already have all the Disney songs and Grease and all.

Thanks

  1. Find beach themed items here...

    http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/browse...

    Schedule your day to include

    * gross motor activities (games, beach ball, dance, exercise, etc)

    * art

    * snack

    * music

    * story time (read books about the beach)

    * quiet activities (sand & sand toys; water & water toys; puzzles, etc)

    Do a search on Google for beach themed birthday parties and find ideas for games and such.

  2. You need some large-motor activities to balance out the small-motor art activities:

    1. Limbo with bamboo poles and the song "Wipeout"

    2. Ring toss (or toss the circular pool float onto a standing pole)

    3. Swimsuit relay races - kids put a large swimsuit on over their clothes, run to the end, take it off and put on another one, and run back. Take off the suit and pass it to the next kid on their team.

    4. Pass the shell - kids hold a popsicle stick in their mouths, and use it to pass a shell (one that can hang on the stick well) down a line and back

    The Lilo and Stitch soundtrack is fabulous for "beachy" songs that are appropriate for kids and enjoyable for the adults, too.
