Art Hovhannesyan knocks out Archie Ray Marquez – Boxing news
Art Hovhannesyan announced his existence to the fighting community by displaying extreme punching power and great footwork against the Lightweight professional prospect, Archie Ray Marquez on June 10.
The 29-year-old, Hovhannesyan scored a six-round technical knockout decision over the 22-year-old Archie Ray Marquez in their 8 rounds competitive crown at the Chumash Casino, Santa Ynez in California, United States. The time was 1:03 of the sixth round
when the bout was called off by the referee.
The orthodox stance Hovhannesyan said, “I told everyone, in a couple of rounds, I can teach him how to box and then stop him.”
Hovhannesyan proved it by showing his class against Marquez. Marquez went down to the floor for four times during the fight.
Hovhannesyan has been outstanding since his joining to boxing. He has never been defeated by anyone in his growing career. It was his number eight knockout win and 14th consecutive victory. However, Marquez faced the first ever loss of his career
fighting against Lionheart.
Hovhannesyan started landing punches from the very beginning. Just before the end of first round, Hovhannesyan landed an extremely powerful punch on to Marquez but he survived.
Edmond Tarverdyan is currently the chief trainer of Hovhannesyan. Tarverdyan disclosed, “Art has a big punch and he's learning to sit down on it.”
Hovhannesyan won the second knockout over Marquez in the third round. Hovhannesyan’s stroked the most effective shot of competition when Marquez could not predict his left hook. As a result, Marquez went down to the canvas for the third time in the fifth
round.
In an interview to the Showtime the chief trainer of Hovhannesyan, Tarverdyan said on Thursday, “I told them, 'Upset, what upset? We're not going to upset him, we're going to out box him and then we're going to knock him out.”
Adding to this Tarverdyan, said that it was overall a good fight and they were expecting same results and are going to sit with promoter Gary Shaw very soon to decide the next possible opponent.
