Question:

Art Project on Familiar Surroundings?

Ok, so I have an art AS Level exam project on Familiar Surroundings, and I want to do something relatively easy (I only have 5 hours in which to make the final piece, though I have 4 weeks to fill up my sketchbook with ideas etc) but I want to do something more interesting than the traditional doing drawings of my room, my house, my family, my favourite things etc. Also I have to find Artists to research and relate my work to. I can use any media; photos, painting, drawing, models (though I'm not so keen on doing models! etc.) Any ideas on what I could do or who I could research? Anything would be much appreciated, thank you!

  1. What modes of transportation do you use to get where you usually go? You could use that as a way to make a portrait of your life from a somewhat different perspective. As far as related artists, you might want to crawl all over this link to see what could work for you.

I hope it interests you. I got all excited about it!

  2. You can check out one of my favorite artists, Lee Walton.

He's conceptual, so please keep an open mind.
