  1. If the project is just for your own enjoyment then you should be fine. BUT if you plan to put it in a show or submit it for class or something where more than you would see it, then you need permission to use it.

Unless you know this art is copyright free. But chances of that are slim.

  2. if you are altering the image to obscure its original state you can use it. if you are selling the image you would be taking the right which is owed to the artist.

  3. no.   you're not using them for profit.  although sometime teachers might have you reference things..............although that is rare. you don't need permission.  only if you are going to publish it or make some kind of profit.  artist always use each others ideas anyways.

if you want to use free stock images register at this site: http://www.sxc.hu

  4. If you're asking about a school project, then don't worry.  If your're planing on selling, then yes.

  5. hmm depends on the artist i guess, i know some people that are fine with allowing others to use their art and photography for projects and displaying. so long as you dont go and try and sell it.

  6. well as long as it doesn't go into publication, and just stays as a project, i don't see you getting into any trouble. if it is for something that will be published there could be problems, your editor or whoever publishes the work will probably require a reference like you do for taking quotes out of books. but with art i believe you usually need the artists Permission though.
