  1. An art corner doesn't have to have everything... because these kids are young. But a must is definitely finger paints that are used on special paper so that it doesn't get everywhere...

    Finger paint

    paper

    gluestick

    crayons

    markers

    colored paper

no glitter because it gets everywhere

    colored pencils

    table and chairs

art is a really important thing to have in a childs life because its fun and sparks their imagination! good luck :)))

******and when the kids finish an art piece..hang it up!

  4. I think all the answers are awesome, but for your peace of mind, make sure the area itself is art friendly. Make sure your walls are ones that can be cleaned easily (from paint splatters and crayons) and that your flooring is easily replaceable, like the rubber puzzle mats you can just lift up and replace, or the carpet tiles with a separate clear desk mat that you can put down when the kids are painting.

    Good luck!

  5. All the things already listed. Just make sure the children have time in that corner to create on their own.

  6. chalk chalkboard, paint paper, crayons books, stickers, shapes or blocks to trace

pencils, markers. ribbon and scrap book paper.

scissors, glue, (glitter if you care to clean it up.)

string. yarn. samples of crafts that are done and

displayed. card making, plastic eye balls.

sand art table, tracing paper, an easel, paper cutter for teacher.  Inter net has many sites where you can print puzzles and pictures and commics or coloring book pages.

    have fun

  7. paste paper crayons elbow mac. yarn scraps tissue paper fabric scaps glue sticks confetti pop sticks bird seed rubber stamps stickers stencils

  8. You should include many different types of paper, such as butcher paper, computer paper, construction paper, tissue paper, doilies, envelopes, finger paint paper, manila paper, newspaper, paper plates, roll paper, sand paper, and wrapping paper.

This site has some other suggestions for art materials:

    Yarn

    Glue sticks

    Washable markers

    Crayons

  10. All the previous answers are great ones, I would also add old magazines for children to cut pictures out of to make collages, and old greeting cards for them to either cut up, or they can cut off the front side and make their own postcard.

  11. In North Carolina, "quality" programs are supposed to have enough materials for children to participate in 5 related activities at the same time.  When choosing materials, I would definitely keep in mind the purpose of the center/corner.  Children use creativity as a form of expression and communication.  Markers/crayons/colored paper and paper are essentials, as are collage materials and glue.  Collage materials don't have to be a lot, but varied is good.  I think one important consideration related to the art area is displaying children's work - just as important as letting them create is showing off their creations.  It says, "I value what you create!"

    But in simple list form:

    Must:

    -Crayons

    -Markers

    -Colored pencils

    -Plain paper

    -Construction paper

    -Scissors

-Collage materials (tissue paper, cotton balls, fabric scraps, foam pieces, etc.)

    -Glue

-Paint (Small amounts, water colors, or "dot dots" which are paint tubes that is the brush and paint in one)

    Should Haves:

    -Magazines

    -Stamps

    -Art trays

-Specialty paper/ papers of different thicknesses and textures

    -Beads (older children)

    -String

    -Pipe cleaners

    -Play dough

    -Buttons (older children)

    -Googly eyes

I've also been told it's a good idea to display "professional" art and art classics around the art area as inspiration - like the Mona Lisa ;-)

  12. Crayons, Smocks, Finger paints, and  Easels. Oh and Paper, LOTS of Paper. Hope This Helps!
