  1. If you want a different way to paint, try a twist on marble painting.  Find an empty coffee can or margerine tub with a lid and put paper inside.  Then put golf balls, tennis balls, etc with paint on them and close the lid.  Encourage the children to push and roll the can.  It's a great gross motor activity for a group of children.

  2. If you're looking for activities to do with babies under 12 months, playing music, making sounds, holding objects with different textures and even reading to them and showing them bright colored art, are all the beginnings of arts.

If you want to make something for the parents, trace around their hands or feet.  This could be simple, like going back over it with a marker and adding the name and date, or more elaborate like embroidering the outline, or putting it on a linen dish towel.

  3. Paint with whip cream or pudding.  You can freeze water and food color in small paper cups ( 3 or 5 oz. ) and let them push the colored ice around on construction paper or paper towels.  make foot or hand prints with them.  One time I had my one year olds in just their diapers and let them roll around in paint on a big piece of paper on the floor.

  4. Well the six week old probably isnt going to be too much into any kind of art project. Visit the library. they are a good source

  5. finger paint!

take vanilla pudding and put food dye in it. little kids will have fun playing with it. and eating it!

  6. One that I love to do with the kids....

pudding finger paint...have the older ones help you make the instant pudding (different flavors..different colors..or add food coloring). I have the children beat it with an old fashioned egg beater ....then scoop into shallow dishes/bowls...

then paint with their hands..If they eat it..it is ok...new tastes..etc. sensory...

after completed..pop into freezer..(make sure you do it on wax paper)...

    then well frozen..pop off paper..for a treat...(snack)...cools...teething gums...that may be sore....

    have fun...

turn on music that is soothing or upbeat..it is very open ended..you can cut the paper into different shapes, etc.
