what is modern art inspired from? Back in the early 19th century it was religion and culture.. can someone explain to me what dadaism is?

  1. Modern art was inspired by the need to de-clutter.

    It included the Bauhaus, Constructionists and those artists who wanted to get away from the fussy, frilly type of realist art that the 18th and 19th centuries had been marked by.

    Dada or Dadaism was an international nihilistic movement among European artists and writers that lasted from 1916 to 1922. It rejected all religious and moral principles and maintained that nothing had a true existence.

    It came from the widespread disillusionment after World War I,  originated

    in Zürich with the poetry of the Romanian Tristan Tzara. Dada attacked

    conventional standards of aesthetics and behaviour and stressed absurdity and

    the role of the unpredictable in artistic creation.

    In many way, the punk movement was an echo of Dadaism.

    The literary works of Dada were mostly nonsense poems and meaningless

    random combinations of words, which were read in public.
