Artem Pochtarev outshines Milan Ludik in Men’s Singles pre-quarter-final at Polish Open 2012
Artem Pochtarev, a talented young shuttler from Ukraine, lived up to the expectations as he played impressive badminton and overpowered his lower ranked challenger Milan Ludik of Czech Republic in the Men’s Singles pre-quarter-final contest at the Polish Open 2012 in Poland, on Friday, August 31.
Higher ranked Artem, who is seventh seeded player in main draw of Men’s Singles category, had to put in extra effort to send his rival packing in straight games with a decent margin.
The in-form Artem had to work to his maximum potential and remained successful in taking the opening game with a tight score. However, he did not face any trouble in winning the second set and registered a wonderful victory over Milan in just 34 minutes.
The talented Milan, on the other hand, also played good badminton and gave a remarkable fight in opening set but failed to maintain his rhythm and went down against Artem in straight sets with a reasonable difference.
In the first game, both shuttlers snapped each other’s heel by putting up spectacular show of aggressive and top quality badminton and remained toe-to-toe until the opening half as no one could create a reasonable difference on the board.
In the concluding half, both players continued playing impressive badminton and remained close on score board until the ending points.
At this crucial situation, it was the Ukrainian shuttler who played to his maximum potential and took the bird early from all areas of the court.
Artem remained positive and composed in the finishing points and took the set with a dramatic 23-21 score on the board.
In the second game, Artem showed a little urgency in taking an impressive lead at the initial stage as he played with precision and managed to take a tremendous lead until the mid-game interval.
After the mid-game break, Artem continued putting up strong show of attacking play as he did not lose his focus and eventually grabbed the set with a huge margin of 21-14.
Seventh seeded Ukrainian shuttler overpowered Milan in straight sets with a 23-21 and 21-14 margin on the score board.
