Arsenal’s midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mikel-Arteta-c25715 has gone on to admit that he still feels young on the pitch, despite him turning thirty this year.
The Spaniard has been one of the stand out performers for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 over the last two seasons. His performances have been consistent, and with him influencing the team’s movement and mentality from the midfield, the Gunners have slowly but surely shown signs of improvement.
The midfielder is happy with the way the current season is playing out, but hopes for the team to do even better in the future.
Arteta also hopes for his ability and enthusiasm to help the team out in the coming weeks, as he looks towards helping the Gunners lift some silverware before the current season comes to an end.
“I still feel really young and I always have that mentality,” he said.
“For me the age matters only to a point.”
“You feel good - you have that enthusiasm and you love coming into training every day as I do. You play the games and feel proud of where you are. I think that takes your age right down.”
The midfielder is currently the vice captain of the team, and one of the older players in the North London club.
He has admitted that he enjoys his new role at the club, but also feels that sometimes he tends to say things to the player, which they might take to easily, despite him only meaning to say things in the best interest of the club.
“I’m quite passionate and I can’t really be quiet when my blood starts to flow or when things aren’t going well, or I think we need to do something more,” he said. “I tend to say something, always in a respectful way, and try to help us improve.”
With Arteta in the Gunners squad, the team has looked to be exponentially better than they were without him.
Last season, the team hardly managed to perform when he was on the sidelines, which goes to prove just how important he is for the team.
It is now up to Arsene Wenger to get the best out of the player, in order for him to help the team move forward.
