The North London club travelled to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 to face the team in their opening game of the Champions League season, and following a hard fought battle they Gunners won by two goals to one.
Montpellier opened the scoring in the game via a penalty, but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755 both went on to score in the second half to help the team take all three points from the game.
During the first half, the Gunners were outstanding, but in the second half of the game, they seemed to be all over the place.
Despite that fact, the team managed to maintain their composure and denied their opponents from scoring any goals in the game.
Arteta strongly feels that the team’s composure and new focused mentality is what helped them win the game, and secure all three points from the game.
"You can't panic, we knew in the last 25 minutes they were going to throw some bodies up front and create some problems,” Arteta told the club's official website
"They missed a clear chance at the end but I am so glad to get the points, it is a brilliant way to start."
The midfielder has also gone on to admit that the team never underestimated their opponents, and went into the game ready to face a very tough test.
He admitted that the team was aware of the work rate that Montpellier put in every game, and that is why the Gunners needed to constantly put in a hundred and ten percent, in order to end up on top at the end of the game.
"We knew it was going to be tough, they were champions in France last year and that is no coincidence," Arteta continued.
"They work really hard, they have some talented players and scored the first one at home, which means it is always difficult to get back into the game.”
Arsenal will now need to maintain the form they have shown early on in the season, as they look to avoid dropping any points in the coming weeks.
