Artexing ceilings?

i have just plasterboarded my ceilings in my house and want to artex them. can i artex onto the boards or do i need to to skim(plaster) them first? thanks.

  1. You can artex stright onto the plasterboards..........but don't for all the reasons above.


  2. dont do it you think its great till you change your mind then it a sod to get off

  4. Don't artex them, plaster them.  Nobody uses artex now and if you ever want to sell the house it can put a lot of buyers off.  However, if you really want to go ahead, make sure you give the plasterboard a good coat of pva first.

  5. Get the ceilings skimmed by a plasterer.  Everybody I know is getting their Artex off as they redecorate each room so don't put it on please.  Artex is 60's - we are gradually getting rid of it in our house.

  6. Artex like night heaters will REDUCE the value of your house.

  7. Dont do it, it is murder to paint and total c**p to get off if you change your mind.
