Arthur Abraham: I have trained hard and will nail Piotr Wilczewski authoritatively – Boxing news
Arthur Abraham, the current WBO European super middleweight champion, reiterated his sheer determination to nail his March 31, 2012 opponent, Piotr Wilczewski.
He said that he has an effective game plan ready in his gloves and everybody will see how the Polish pounder gets pummelled adding that he has trained very hard for this bout and just wants to win it at all costs.
Arthur and Piotr are scheduled to headline the pay-per-view organised and promoted by Wilfried Sauerland of Sauerland Event and the ring for the event will be stretched at Sparkassen-Arena situated in Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.
Abraham, 32, currently resides in top world super middleweight rankings and will enter the ring with a possible stipulation that if he wins the skirmish he will take on the winner of George Groves and Robert Stieglitz bout.
The Berliner Arthur has been in a total 36 bouts and came out victorious in 33. He has collected 27 of his wins by knockout and is considered as one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the division.
After the Andre Ward loss, Arthur skirmished Pablo Oscar Natalio Farias and grabbed the vacant WBO European super middleweight gold. This will be the first time that he will defend his newly acquired gold against a pugilist who is of almost equal experience,
Piotr Wilczewski.
Piotr, 33, also known as the ‘Wilk’, is the number one Polish super middleweight and though resides at a bit lower international position yet has a pretty impressive resume. The veteran orthodox has been in a total 32 bouts and came out victorious in 30.
He has collected just 10 wins by knockout, an aspect that gives Arthur ample upper hand over Piotr.
The duo recently met at the pre-bout press conference and shared their thoughts about each other. Arthur, well known as ‘King Arthur’, said, “I have sweated a lot. It will not be in vain. I am in great shape and I will win.”
When asked as to what he thinks about Piotr, Abraham replied, “Wilczewski seems to be a rugged and tough guy. By his record, you can tell that he has some experience. He was already the European champion at super-middleweight. I will not underestimate him
but not overestimate him either.”
At the same time, Piotr also put forth his ambition of collecting an emphatic win over Arthur and revealed, “I did three weeks of intense sparring. I feel ready to get inside the ring.”
While delivering his thoughts about Arthur, Piotr revealed, “Abraham was a world champion at middleweight and is still a competitive, experienced sportsman. In addition, he can deliver this one-punch K.O. Arthur Abraham is still a dangerous opponent who
wants to win as much as I do.”
If Arthur wins this bout he will authoritatively rule the division and will again get the right to bout for the apex divisional gold.
