Arthur Abraham laughs off Carl Froch comments, vows to knock him out
Arthur Abraham believes he’ll take the rattle out of the cobra when he faces Carl Froch.
In a recent interview with eastsideboxing.com, “The King” said “The Cobra” simply won’t beat him because he is dedicated to winning a world title in a second division, the reward for winning their November 27 clash.
“I want to accomplish my goal of winning a world title in a second weight class. And I need to make up for my last fight. Only a victory in Helsinki can put my mind at rest,” Abraham explained. “I also think that Froch has a mental problem. He still thinks
he defeated Mikkel Kessler in his last fight, which was clearly not the case.”
Words of a respective “mental problem” were exchanged in previous weeks by both sides. Abraham allegedly initiated the comments, to which Froch responded that he thought Abraham was the one with a psychological affliction, given his disqualification against
Andre Dirrell.
Abraham was disqualified in his last Super Six bout for hitting Dirrell after he slipped to the canvas. The shot was heavily criticized.
For his part, Abraham contends that he was watching Dirrell’s head, and that seeing his head lowered as if to dodge a punch, he went in for shot that resulted in a seizure for Dirrell and a withdrawal from the tournament.
When asked if Froch had gotten under his skin, “The King” said: “Froch? Under my skin? Not at all. I can’t take his comments seriously. Only one person has ever gotten under my skin and that is Edison Miranda. It did not do him any good. I defeated him with
a broken jaw and then knocked him out in the rematch. I think Froch will meet a similar fate.”
Abraham – Froch will take place in Helsinki, Finland, and will be definitive in the outcome of the Super Six tournament.
