Arthur Abraham reckons Super Six semi-final against Andre Ward crucial for him – Boxing news
The Armenian-German professional boxer, Arthur Abraham, who has been the International Boxing Federation’s Middleweight Champion for five years, says his Super Six semi-final against Andre Ward matters a lot for him.
Four semi-finalists have been chosen to make a place for the final to win The Super Middleweights championship. In the first semi-final, Andre Ward would go against Arthur Abraham for the World Boxing Association’s (WBA) Super Middleweight Championship bout
on May 14, 2011 in Los Angeles, United States.
In the second semi final, Carl Froch and Glen Johnson will be face to face for a 12-round WBC Super Middleweight Championship bout in Atlantic City, United States.
The Super middleweight finalist Arthur Abraham says his career revolves around the upcoming fight which is going to take place very soon.
The 31-year-old while talking about his Saturday fight said, “It will definitely be a make-or-break fight. For me, it's everything.”
Abraham is coming off after couple of his fight losses of Super Six bouts to Andre Dirrell of the US and Great Britain’s Carl Froch. However, this time he promised his fans that could announce his retirement if he loses this competition against the best
middleweights of the world.
Abraham spent a lot of time with his manager and trainer to prepare for this bout during his stay in California. The American national Orthodox stance, Andre Ward is the favourite contender of this championship. The 23-year-old Ward has been impressive and
undefeated throughout the mega event.
Abraham further said, “I haven't seen anything of Los Angeles and I won't now, my whole focus is on Andre Ward.”
The winner of this championship bout will win the bout against Froch, who won over Abraham fighting in November 2010 to take back his WBC Super Middleweight belt. The secondly possibility would be to take on Glen Johnson on Saturday, June 4, 2011.
